How to prepare your Airbnb for a same-day turnover
By Airola ·
A same-day turnover is when one guest checks out and the next checks in on the same day. Your cleaner has only the gap between the two to get the property ready, so preparation makes the difference between a calm turnover and a rushed one.
Here is how to set your property up so same-day turnovers run smoothly, whether you manage one flat in East London or several.
Set check-out and check-in times that leave room
Your check-out and check-in times decide how long the cleaner has. A late-morning check-out with a mid-afternoon check-in, for example, leaves a clear window in the middle of the day. If you allow early check-ins or late check-outs, decide in advance how you will handle them on days with back-to-back bookings.
How long you need depends on the size of the property and what the clean includes. We explain the factors in how long an Airbnb turnover clean takes.
Keep spare linen and supplies on site
- At least two full sets of bedding and towels for every bed, so fresh sets go straight on.
- A stock of essentials: toilet roll, hand soap, dish soap and bin liners.
- One labelled cupboard or box for spare items, so nothing has to be searched for.
- A simple list of what should be in stock, so low items get noticed.
Give your cleaner clear information
On a tight turnover, every question costs time. A short guide for your cleaner helps a lot:
- How to get in: key safe, lockbox or smart lock details, and building access.
- Bin arrangements. Collection rules differ between East London boroughs and buildings, so note where rubbish and recycling go.
- How beds and living areas should look, ideally with a photo of each room set up.
- Anything particular to the property, such as a tricky lock or an appliance that needs resetting.
Keep your calendar and your cleaner in sync
Same-day turnovers depend on your cleaner knowing exactly when bookings change. If you take a last-minute booking, extend a stay or agree to an early check-in, tell your cleaner straight away rather than on the day.
Sharing your booking calendar makes this much easier, because cleans can be planned around each check-out without you sending details every time. With Airola you can share your calendar, and we only see dates, never guest details.
Make check-out easy for guests
Clear check-out instructions help the turnover start on time. Keep requests short and reasonable: tell guests what time to leave, where to leave keys, and ask them to let you know when they have gone. A message the evening before check-out is a helpful reminder.
Plan for things that go wrong
Even with good preparation, same-day turnovers sometimes hit problems: a guest leaves late, something is broken, or supplies run out. Decide in advance who your cleaner should contact, and how quickly you can respond.
Photos taken during and after the clean help you make quick decisions from wherever you are. We explain why in how photo proof after cleaning protects hosts.

Frequently asked questions
What if a guest checks out late?
Let your cleaner know as soon as you can. A late check-out shortens the cleaning window, so it helps to have spare linen and supplies ready and a clear plan for that day.
Do I need to be at the property?
Not usually. With clear access instructions and photo updates after the clean, many hosts manage same-day turnovers remotely.
Can I book same-day cleans on short notice?
We offer same-day cleans subject to availability. Booking regular turnovers and sharing your calendar makes it easier to plan ahead.
Should I ask guests to strip the beds before they leave?
Some hosts do, but keep any check-out requests short and mention them in your listing, so guests know before they book. Spare linen sets on site do more to speed up a turnover than asking guests to help.
